It’s been such a long time since I wrote a review here. And it feels good to be back. And what better to review than DANGER the recently released small budget film starring TARA DESHPANDE, ASHUTOSH RANA & JAS ARORA. People who are familiar with my views won’t be surprised knowing my love for films, & more so for experimental small budget films without songs.
Now to come to the point which is the film DANGER. Before I start off on the film I must give u guys some dope on the Producer of the film VASANT CHEDA who is also the Co-Director of the film. Now Vasant was a son of a producer & took over his dad’s business. But the quality of our bollywood films he was getting to produce soon frustrated our dude. So he decide to take a break from producing ridiculous films. He studied books on films & watched films for almost 2 years. Then when he felt ready he got Govind Menon from south where he had been assisting some big names & made the film DANGER.
Now the film isn’t anything great, neither is it bad. It’s a good film. Definitely worth your moolah. It doesn’t have songs to bore you. Doesn’t have a star. It’s a 90 minutes film which doesn’t waste time on anything other than the plot. The plot itself isn’t bad. Infact its damn neat. There’s nothing illogical about it. And the way the film goes from one situation to another is fantastic. The detailing & continuity is done to perfetion.
The acting is fine. Ashutosh Rana is almost perfect in the role of the Accountant of a Don. I said almost perfect ’coz as expected he does overact at some scenes esp. ’’SH1T SH1T SH1T’’(see the movie & u’ll know). I thought this role was made for Manoj Vajpayee. He would have kicked a$$. Jus Arora is not bad at all in his debut role. He looks great throughout the film. Tara Deshpande was fine. Nothing great ’coz she has been brilliant in her previous films BOMBAY BOYS & IS RAAT KI SUBAAH NAHIN. She is definitely capable of doing much better.
The film is quite good almost till the end where it becomes quite predictable. Since the strongpoint of the film was to wonder in each scene-’’what next?’’ the end should have been something which hits you. But that doesn’t happen. But that’s pardonable. Atleast the dude made a very honest attempt at making a good film & they are quite successful at it too. The whole movie was made at a budget of less than 2 crore & I am sure they would have recovered that much money by 1st week itself. I watched it on its 3rd week & the theatre was quite filled. Why don’t others also get some sense & start making such songless & economical films with its plot as its HERO. For the same money they spend on their blockbuster films, they can make 10 such films.
Now the reason why you should go to ur nearest theatre to watch DANGER is -
1) Its a good film.
2) The more such movies make money, more such films will be made, which is great news for people like u & me who are sick & tired of the routine song & dance melodrama of our bollywood.
Vasant your work is definitely appreciated. Keep making more such films.
