Being a writer and least interested/fascinated by gizmic exotica, I chose to buy Dell Inspiron simply because a friend arranged for some discounts and I nailed it for some Rs. 36000. Heres a very non-tech review of my first lap machine:
1) Quality: The keypad was so delicate that two keys popped out in some 7 days and that too when my nails were thoroughly trimmed. Even if they werent, nowhere in the manual book was mentioned "nails"! Thankfully they got the keypad replaced immediately, but even then I still stand by - it is damn delicate (unlike my husbands sturdy Lenovo) and catches on all the dirt (unlike my friends HP). The touch pad is quite insensitive as compared to Lenovo.
But otherwise the typing experience is quite smooth. Volume/Sound is good and totally audible even without external speakers.
2) Customer care: Prompt - no accusations!
3) Look & Feel:Sleek and small, but pretty heavy! Many fancy coloured skins to choose from...I stuck to the black though.
4) Features: Has home edition Vista pre-installed, upgradable RAM, 14" screen, Wifi, Intel Pentium Dual Core processor, 160 GB hard disk, wireless remote control, headphones, web cam - 2 mega pixel, a silly avatar feature that has everything it takes to turn your face ugly, and the rest didnt mean much.
Overall Verdict:
Lenovo is the best! Infact Lenovo P60 is like the good old Nokia 3310...throw it, bang it and its still working!
Delicate Dell Inspiron couldnt quite inspire!
