Bad bad customer service

I have been totally disappointed with the customer service of Dell recently. There was a time I used to praise Dell’s customer service and recommended the brand to several people and corporate. But now I would advice anyone to choose another brand but Dell.


I had purchased a Dell Vostro 3350 in April 2011 and the backup time of it’s 4-cell battery reduced to 15 mins. by the end of the first year itself. By the end of the second year it had completely conked off! I have used several laptops in the last 10 years and never came across a laptop whose battery had gone dead in 2 years.


When reported to Dell they said the battery was out of the warranty period. My bad luck I couldn’t inform them earlier. But WTH? Isn’t it a manufacturing defect?


Anyways, later on the DC input port became loose and the power supply would get disconnected even with a little shake of the laptop. Now, they have to say that it is a wear and tear and is not covered under warranty! Is this how you wash your hands off being a reputed brand?


Don’t you think this would effect the dependability of your brand? Doesn’t being a reputed brand mean providing a fool-proof product? Can’t you design a product that can withstand wear and tear for at least 3 years? I’ve used Macbook and can now say that they have created a brand because they really provide a fool-proof product.


My sincere advice to any body who is planning to buy a Dell product would be to think over. What are you buying Dell for?
