I Always wondered why Mr Dilip Kumar is widely acclaimed to be one of the if not the best actor in bollywood. Go and see the orignal ’’Devdas’’ and you`ll know why.{okie there was an older version of devdas which well..did not become so popular}
This ’’version’’ of devdas by Sanjay Leela Bhansali is nothing but self indulgence.Someone told me see this movie for its artistic value & not its content. ’’Artisic’’ I yelled Stanley Kubrick does artistic movies , Our Very Own Shyam Benegal has done some masterpieces , Sanjay Leela Bhansali is a wannabe. The world is full of wannabes , this guy rules the roost.
Shahrukh khan potrays Shahrukh khan in this movie. He cannot be devdas , after seeing yusuf khan as devdas you`d well expect even somebody 10% of that would be good enough.
Sharukh whines, moans, groans, growls throughout the movie.
Hamming personified mr khan.
I cried more than him .. why the hell did I spend a 100 bucks for this piece of thrash???
I am a big fan of ma`mme dixit & well who doesn like Ms Rai.
Thankfully & expectedly they were brilliant in their potrayal of paro & chandramukhi, Even suchitra sen & vyjanthimala bali would agree to this.
If you have nothing to do, always have loads of cash at your disposal or like ms rai & dixit .. go watch this movie... .okie I kinda like the choreography ..songs were good but a bit below par concidering Mr Darbar gave us ’’hum dil de chuke sanam’’.Camera work was good .. lighting & everything was good. Sets were extravagant & beautifull{but not needed}.
I always belived that a good film need not be the film with the biggest stars, biggest hype, largest amount spent.
A good film can be a small budgeted with unknowns ..nee mpk, hyderabad blues, , etc
I agree there have been worser movies , but well the hype for this movie is just too much.
