DSl had the best offer since powersurfer for internet connection through cable. There was Rs 5000 deposit only and a monthly charge of Rs 1000. The key point in it was there was the offer of unlimited wonload. The speed they offered was 64kpbs. The scehem was very good for intenet users who previously had heavy phone bills due to dial up connections. So despite this nice scheme what went wrong?
I stay at tardeo. The DSL guys were offering the above mentioned services through one of their agents Shreeji Enetrprises. I paid them Rs 5000 on 14th August 2001. They promised the connection within 15 working days. More then a month later I didnt get any reply. After numerous visits and even a police complaint they shut down their office. The concerned police officer (Very Helpful and a decent guy) also told me there were numerous police complains against them but very unfortunately they could not do a thing since this matter came under the jurisdiction of The Economic Offenses Wing..(This happens only in India). Then I got a phone call from anotheragent called Durga Enterprises. They said they would give me the connection and I could pay them the deposit after I got it backfrom Shreeji Enterprises. A few days later There was a news line on our local cable channel from the local police station that even they were blacklisted and no one should pay them any amount. Needless to say even their office wass closed down. The DSL company is of no help too. Please do not get conned by these agents and DSL. The other companies like Hathway and Powersurfer (Although maybe a little expenive then DSL) are much better as they deal directly to the customers rather then do it through some agents.
