First things first , Disturbia is basically a remake of the 1954 Hitchcocks Classic Rear Window , but nonetheless it succeeds to entertain us and finds a niche of its own.
Kale (Shia LaBeouf ) is put under house-arrest after punching his Spanish teacher who makes an insensitive remark about his deceased father who died in a car accident. He already has history of rundown with the law. Under House arrest Kale is looked after by his mother(Carrie Ann-Moss) who works hard all day long to support her family and comes home to a detached, emotional less Kale who is addicted ( like many other teens) to his Xbox 360, MySpace, Cellphone, itunes.
Living alone all day long he starts to notice the life of his next door neighbors and starts to find various patterns, schedules in their lives, and while observing his neighbors , Ashley(Sarah Roemer) moves in his neighborhood. Kale along with his friend ( Aaron Yo) start suspecting a man(David Morse) who lives in a house opposing his.Ashley also joins them in this whodunit. But is he really a murder or is Kales mind playing tricks on him , Is he really seeing a murder or is it just a figment of his over active imagination ?? That forms the basic plot of the movie.
Disturbia has some fine performances by all of its actors , they overcome the not-so suspenseful script. Shia LeBeouf(hes having a great year with transformers too) is terrific as the lonely guy , he potrays the current generation with honesty
Sarah Roemer looks hot and excels at being the eye-candy of the movie ;). Aaron Yo provides the comic relief as his friend and Carrie Ann Moss and David Morse also good in their respective parts.
I gotta admit at a crisp running time of 108 minute disturbia keeps a tight pace with some exciting and shocking scenes although it could have done with a better ending. An Entertaining Flick to be taken with a pinch of salt.
