Well Well Well, It seemed like plain copy of original old DON spiced up with style and wit while Watching DON1 five years back until last shocking 15 mins climax. This turned over the whole theme of the movie and also cleared the intention of the film maker which could be expressed as following basic elements:
& Finally
- Don ko pakdna mushkil hi nahi, namumkin hai.
Whatever be the story, whatever be the treatment all the sequels have to follow above basic elements to be entitled as "sequel".
Keeping that in mind it is foolish enough for anybody trying to find logic in each scene till that fulfils the above basics elements defined in first part. And having planned to see this sequel does confirm that you have actually accepted & liked DON 1 as IT IS.
DON 2 is one of the brilliant movies ever produced by Indian Cinema. It is not only of international standard, it benchmarks itself as emerging India Cinema worldwide. Kudos to SRK and Farhan having dared to try something of global standard.
As expected, movie is full of style, dialogues(some being are really witty), car chasing, many twists & best fighting scenes which keep you sit all through the movie. Many criticises that twists or thrills were predictable. To some extent, these were, but we had that in mind before entering hall that any twist would be possible since what we saw in DON 1. Didn’t we? Weren’t we calculating in our mind all the possibilities around each twists and turns? only because we got shocking climax in part 1. Then why complaining? Farhan seems to be aware of it tried his best to execute the twists and for me, he was successful enough.
Don 2 is all the way SRK movie. It is his best performance till date. Someone argued that he showcases himself larger than life and his work reflecting his arrogant persona. Hang on sirji! Wasn’t that basic thing that defined DON in part one? Even the dialogue " Don ka pakdana. " is full of arrogance. If it has lead the critics to remark that SRK has become arrogant and doing GOD like character in this movie. It has actual turned out to be compliment for his talent. His acting abilities have put so much life in DON’s character and personality as defined above that critics are forced to COMPLIMENT like that. Wonderful work by SRK. ONLY he deserves to be DON in the present era. No one has any guts even to think about this role. He has entirely redefined the way DON walk(see the opening scene), the way DON looks at other, the way DON smile, the way DON shows his anger. SRK has created a very new and very different aura of what DON should live / look like in Indian cinema. Hats off to such efforts.
Music of the movie is being criticised much. Well yes it has nothing that much new. Music of any DON sequels has to be bound by the basics boundaries of original DON. So nothing new was expected. There is only one song which is awesome to see and you never feel like disturbed from the pace of the movie. Background scores are good but personally I didn’t find that as good as was in part One(Remember background scores of climax, was awesome)
PC did a good job in small role. She didn’t get much exposure as SRK was all the way on the screen. So no complain. Other characters were ok. Boman did a good job.
DON 2 gives an international feel overall. It is good to see the direction where the Indian Cinema is heading too. And much of the credit should be given to SRK for that. He dared to make RA One, which I personally didn’t like it. But his efforts worth appreciation.
And Yes, Even I didn’t like that romantic link which Farhan is trying to develop in DON. Not for Don type character. May be he is making some ground for DON 3. Who knows?
There were many clues, bits and bops in DON 1 which we could only understood once we gave it a repeat view. It had repeat values after unexpected climax. Does DON 2 have repeat value? I personally feel "yes". I had my own doubts and questions watching it first time, but all these got cleared when I gave it another chance. I really admire Farhan for such superb execution of the sequel. Waiting whole heartedly for the third instalments. Hope he doesn’t take so long.
You can easily label me as SRK fan. I am his fan but his critic also. I don’t like his many roles and gave a miss to his many movies. But I adore him as he always looks for new and improved things. Some attempts he failed, but there are others like DON 2 which he has put his mark. It is always better to appreciate a good work rather than finding logics to criticise.
