I have been around MS for quite long yet this is my first review. And after writing just half, I see it’s too long! But, I can’t cut short since that would mean degrading the information but give me feedback on writing a better review.
We stay in Ghansoli, Navi Mumbai but we come all the way to the LHHH for most of our treatment. In the recent time I have been to this hospital innumerable time. 1. my wifes treatment from conceiving till delivery 2. my thyroid disorder 3.newborn daughters treatment.
IPD Experience
We were given a due date for delivery on March 11th. We were going fine. The Ob/gyn we were consulting is a prof. and very helpful. The consultant was even available over the phone 7 days a week and my wife asked her questions for anything and everything, when ever she had doubts and got support and help always without failure. On 24th January my wife started having pain and we rushed to the hospital in the morning. It was a Sunday and consultants come only for IPD (In-Patients Department). But, as we reached the hospital we were relieved to see that the consultant was waiting for us in the hospital lobby. She was taken to the emergency immediately and treated on. I was informed then that she will have to be admitted for about two days to stop the immature delivery since the babys lungs would not be mature enough and if delivered the baby would need lot of special attention. But in case, the labour cannot be stopped, medicines would be administered to her so that the lungs mature fast.
After all this, I did the admission formalities and she was taken to the ward. I took a double occupancy room, since that was all I could support. Their rates are comparable or less to rates in any private hospital in the city. I know about MGM Hospital Vashi, at least, is costlier and services are not as good.
The room was very clean with linens and pillow covers changed everyday and whenever called for with clean ones. The dresses for the patients are also well maintained. There was another lady patient in the room. The nurses came on time to give the medicines and injections. The nurses were very well behaved, supportive and trained. The consultant visited twice daily.
We were charged around 10k rupees that included everything including room charges, consultants visit, medicines etc. The consultants charges for visit are 1000 rupees per visit, which is a standard for all private hospitals in the city set by the Govt. So 10k rupees was absolutely reasonable.
My developed symptoms of labor on 17th Feb and she was again rushed to the hospital. We again were relieved to see the consultant in the hospital lobby. My wife was sent to the labor room and admitted. She was counseled by the intern doctors and nurses. I completed admission formalities after that. She was being looked after very well here. By evening she started having unbearable pain. The anesthesiologist was humble, supportive, and respectful to all, simply great. He managed my wife who was agonizing with intense pain by now and administered the Epidural Analgesia, and my wife could even go off to sleep. Things were not going as desired and the gynecologist had to arrive at 12 in the night and undergo an emergency C-Section to deliver our little baby daughter at 12:50 AM, 18th Feb. After around three hours both mother and child were shifted to the ward.
We stayed for seven days in the hospital. Our experience was a bit different for the first day. The on-duty nurse was not well trained. She could not make an intra-venous channel on the right hand and bruised the hand! The toiletries were not changed in time. But after some talk with the chief nurse, things changed.
Again, the room was double occupancy, and an aged lady was there who had undergone a knee transplant. We needed to switch off the AC and fan since my daughter was not feeding well and this was directed by the neonatologist. So, she was in problem. At our request she was then shifted to another room. Our daughter developed neonatal jaundice and was kept in “phototherapy” for two days after which we were discharged. This time the bill was 54k rupees, all inclusive, again, this is very reasonable. We saw that in the neonatologist’s charges were billed for only one visit, surprisingly, since he visited twice daily and also was available over mobile phone. The gynecologist’s charges were billed only upto the time my wife really needed her consultation. She used to regularly visit her through out her stay.
Adding even more, one of my colleagues had undergone a delivery by cesarean section the very same day and she continues to have back pain due to the epidural analgesia catheter inserted and the wound did not heal for long, whereas my wife was able to walk without support, the very next day.
This hospital is indeed one of the best in the city.
OPD experience to follow.
