Well most of the things about Dr Raj about his career , his films etc have been mentioned in the other reviews.
Shortly before his death CNN-IBN conducted a poll on who was the most loved bangalorean and guess who the winner was ..... he polled 35% of the total votes the other contenders were MR B NR Narayana Murthy, Ur Ananthmurty, Girish Karnad, Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, Nandan Nilekani, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw so that just proves he was a beloved son of Bangalore and Karnataka. well some people might say that Bangalore cannt be said to represent the whole of karnataka but I am pretty sure he was loved in other districts and other parts of the country like mumbai(we had a prayer service in the kannada and tulu sangha marking his death)too.
He played a major role in the gokak agitation and was instrumental in making kannada compulsory in schools.
He was Pro kannada not anti tamil as popularly believed, his fans(or so called fans) have indulged in vandalism time and again but that does not mean he was behind it all. His true fans would never indulge in such frenzy on the day of his death anti social elements took advantage of the situation and created mayhem ... a real disgrace to the great man.
If Dr Rajkumar had floated a political party he would have won hands down but he never took advantage of his popularity and remained just an artist.
Actors like Rajnikant, Kamal hassan were very fond of of him, His funeral would have been full of stars from all over the country as it should have been but alas for security reasons.
After his death his eyes were donated to a 15 year old boy.
Rajkumar was a great actor, human being and is loved by a Kannada , Tulu and Konkani speaking people(Kannadigas) all over.
May his glory last forever.
