I was a user on baazee and bidorbuyindia. Then lot of mergers and redesign, there stood only one - ebay. Buying CDs, t shirts, collectibles was fun, didnt have the intervention of the platform. then I thought I should take the next step.


There was an offer of ebay.. buy using ICICI card and paisapay, one was assured of a gift. This offer was through Diwali. I hadnt bought anything expensive so far, but I was toying with the idea of buying a playstation and happened to see the sale on ebay. Ok. I thought anyways I had checked the same at the Sony shop, it was ok.


So ordered the playstation, the gift from ebay was "1 GB ipod shuffle" as part of some promotion. Any purchase subject to some conditions, could win a gift. My playstation came as scheduled and the seller tried and did everything to keep me happy. No complains about that. I will buy from that buyer next time.


But the gift never came. I completed the sale on Nov 22, and the call centre gave me the confirmation code and said it will take upto 45 days for the gift to reach me. Well 45 days went by, I didnt hear anything from ebay.


Trying to find a category in their regular listing of complaints is a nightmare. It is as if ebay doesnt expect to get any complaints with respect to their promotions. What an assumption! Found some category and sent the complaint. Lo and behold, there was a response that someone will contact me. Every night I come out to the balcony and check if someone from outerspace is actually going to reach out to me and say.. "here is your gift."


Another 45 days have gone by, nothing has happened no response from ebay. If you cant manage promotions, dont run them. People will still buy things as long as they find some value in them. Can someone from ebay explain why there is no response? I do understand it is the buyer and seller who are the parties who are responsible, but what is your role in YOUR promotion. Is there someone at Customer response who can do more than do more than lip service or eservice?
