AquaGuard Water Filter - Classic

A fact that no one will argue or contradict is the quality of water is far from normal

let alone pure. Everyday you will find some news or other titled ’’Sewage water mixes with

Drinking Water Pipe Line’’, ’’Water borne diseases breaks out in XXXXX place’’..... Not to mention

the suspended particles, dust, sand even one Paan Parag cover landed into my house CMC Water

Sump!!!. When you have no control over that you have no option left to purify your water for

drinking and cooking. When I was young every morning my dad used to fill two vessels of water

from the tap through a cotton based filter, pour it through a white cloth

(specially bought

every month for this), then boil it, then pour it in the three candle water filter!!!

Back to the present, all we do now is press a switch and Presto! pure water pours

into the glass. I bought an AquaGuard Classic and have no complain whatsoever with its

performance. Anyway have given a short review about its pros/cons.

  1. Design & Looks:

Well this is like a Maruti 800 or a Nokia 5110. You better don’t expect any good looks from

this. This was built only to purify water and not to enhance your state-of-the-art Italian

Kitchen. The way the filter is designed is pretty much simple as 3 stages.

Stage 1 : Pre-Filter/Candle : This removes the suspended particles, sand etc from the water coming in.

Stage 2 : Carbon Unit : This removes chemical impurities, odour etc.

Stage 3 : This is an UV Lamp which does an e-boiling to kill any micro organisms.

The bad part is the Stage 1 Candle which comes like a Saline Water Unit for the filter and

fitting both in a small kitchen is a cumbersome job. But they have integrated this into the

main unit in the NOVA/Royale Model.

Rating :

Design : 4/10

Looks : 2/10

  1. Performance:

The unit comes with a monitoring logic which monitors the water quality and stops the water supply if the water is not upto the quality. Im not sure as to how it works or whether it works in the first place. Also it has some standard beeps which will tell you if there is any fault in the unit or fault in the water inlet. One thing for sure, I got the water tested and it was 100% pure.

Rating : 10/10

  1. Maintenance:

Like any kitchen appliance, this unit requires some basic care like, it should be safe from heat, dust etc. Moreover care should be taken that water does not spill on the main unit. The candle unit is easily removable and once in a month or 3 months, you can open it and remove the deposits, which Im quite sure you will find regularly. I have used the unit once 24 hours and it didn’t conk off or display any ’’strange’’ behaviour.

Rating : 8/10

  1. Price:

The unit is priced at Rs.6490/- A reasonable price considering the potential health safety you get. Moreover since 1 year I have not faced any problem with this unit. The company offers an AMC for approx Rs.800/-(probably less), consisting of 2 maintenance services. This includes carbon change-TWICE, candle

change (Pre-Filter)-ONCE. Any defective/damaged part inside the unit is replaced free of cost.

Rating : 8/10

  1. Post Sales Service

This is one grey area which Eureka Forbes needs to address. They have a customer care number no doubt.

As others in MS have written, their service leaves a lot to desire. In my case, when we shifted our house, we had requested their engineer to come and re-install it in the new house but the person who came was a service engineer!!. Also they do not maintain a customer database and they ask for your address etc each time!!!.

E.F should think about customer loyalty and incentives for people who always buy their product, one or another.

Rating : 4/10

Overall Rating

Positive Factors : Good, Reliable work-horse. Low maintenance, no gizmos and fittings. If you have a drill machine (or if u can get one), you can fit it yourself, it is so user-friendly.

Improvement Areas: Bad in looks, extra pre-filter spoils image. Bad after-sales service. Absence of any customer database or Product history makes us to repeat the story each time.

Rating : 8/10

(Yes, despite the bad service I have given 8 because of TWO factors, which weigh out the negative points, which I feel we can live with.)

. Low maintenance

. Product Performance
