I am planning to buy an RO water purifier, so I decided to evaluate various brands. As a first step, I visited shops to find out about available brands for my budget. Then I visited various websites and ordered a demo to understand more.
While for Pureit and Kent, the demo personnel talked about the same models that are available in the shops, it was the Aquaguard brand that left me totally confused.
When the Aquaguard person visited my house, he started showing me some models that I had not seen in the shop. When I asked about it, he started bad-mouthing the Aquasure brand, which according to him was a different company and didnt provide after-sales service. He pitched both Aquaguard and Aquasure brands as competitors, and told me so-called benefits of Aquaguard over Aquasure.
When I questioned him about both products coming from Eureka Forbes company, he showed me his direct marketing brochures which were carrying "SP" or "Shapoorji-Pallonji" logo.
I also doubt some of the information provided by him(for example - he said that Aquaguard doesnt charge AMC, when other users confirmed that they charge a hefty AMC. He said that I dont need to replace any parts for next 3 years considering my daily consumption of 10 liters, which is hard to believe).
After this experience I have decided to totally eliminate Aquaguard and Aquasure brands from my shopping list. If people from same company can pitch different products against each other then I dont know what to expect from such brands.
