<Everybody love’s Raymond>.....

This is a really hilarious comedy about a family which includes a mother, father, two sons a daughter-in-law (DIL), and three grandchildren....hardly a recipe for non-stop 30 mins of laughter...but believe me, it is (maybe they picked up this recipe from Bollywood....after all the big family dramas and sagas).

I started out as a skeptic and now I have become an avid viewer. I drop whatever it is I am doing at that time and dedicate a good half hour to this TV family. If you ask me what is that they do that is particularly funny my answer would be nothing out of the blue. They are like anyone of us but it is their perspective of looking at things and interpreting it that makes a whole world of a difference, for instance Deborah the DIL can’t cook or clean or keep house , she is mercilessly picked on by her mother-in-law (MIL) under normal circumstances in India we could have made a saga of this, while Deborah with her sarcastic humor and effective expressions deals with her with a grace one must admire.

On the other hand Raymond (Deborah’s hubby) the ever bumbling husband is not good at anything but bringing home a paycheck, though at the end of the half an hour you are sympathetizing with him and covering for his inadequacies, were it in your own life by now your husband would have been served his divorce papers.

The older brother Robert though an adult and a cop by professional still harbours sibling rivalry sentiments and how he deals with it as well as his single life with a baritone voice and not so comfortable in his giant body is very funny.

Frank their smart mouthing father who treats his wife

in the worst possible way imaginable and yet shows moments of tenderness that are so unlike his personality is very moving.

I think there is this subconscious urge in all of us to be happy inspite of what life throws at us but sometimes we let live’s little hiccups get to us, that is why we all need a little of Raymond everyday to reminds us that inspite of it all there is a silver lining to life. Watching this family over 4 months I have started to feel like I belong with them. I think moreover this is a sitcom you can sit with friends and family and enjoy. After a long while, there is a sitcom that reaches all sections of the society and brings a tiny smile to our face if not tears and tummy aches from laughter.
