IT happens to me, and not seldom occurs the fact that I like movies which the majority does not like.
SO is the case with Family-produced by Keshu Ramsay and directed by RajKumar santoshi.
See I believe that Rajkumar Santoshi is the kind of Director who is capable of making movies which leave an impact on the spectator-films like Ghayal, Damini, Ghatak, Khakee.
He is someone who differs from other commercial directors. ( of course his films have commercial nature too).
What I mean is he is one of those indian directors who do not necessarily show skin- exposure, only because that’s what indian commercial cinema is more or less nowadays--who could have thought that in such times when Bollywood copies Hollywood or Asian(china, Korea) movies or just use exposure for succes, someone would dare and make an old-school vengeance movie with a good star cast.
His films follow a simple line, namely the line of the story which develops further form the frist scene to the last.(sounds wired hun, ..yeah but thats the best way to describe it..)
He tries , ......and he is succesfull with what he does.
for me he is kinda guarante that I am gonna watch a good movie at least ( maybe not the best, but a good one)
And Family is a very decent movie with lots of violence (which is seldom in Bollwood movies cause they just cant do violence secenes that really can shake the spectator, , , but slowly they r learning .....).
and for a vengeance movie why should there not be any violence. See the fights look like fights and not like people punching in the air in stead in someone’s face ( sorry for sounding ordinary). Also I think when someone gets shot by a bullet it should look like he was really struck by it.
The characters dont make any compromises in what they do - they do it cause they mean to do it and stand for what they do .
See this review is not very informative about the film cause u guys must have read all the other reviews, so have i.
My review is for those who have not watched the film yet, and I want them to watch it before they decide against it only because they have read some reviews here which are to some extent unfair to the movie.
it’s a movie with a simple screenplay but the actors especially Amitabh bachan and Bhumika Chawla take the film to a higher level. ( maybe there r twists and maybe there r not, but I wont telly ya anything, I hate spoilers so why spoil films for others ..? )
And I also liked Akshays performance. The Action is great like it was in kHakee, I think Rajkumar santoshi is one of those few indian Direcotrs who can really make action movies in Bollywood. almost all other directors fail when it comes to show good qualtiy action!!!!........
its a film about vengenace, about protecting your family.
And when it is about your family u just dont make compromises.
This film is a very good action thriller.
Yeah I agree Raj kumar santoshis son Ayeman who is beeing introduced in this film is not as good and experienced as the others but come on he is not bad and somehow the role suited him.

And beleive me this kinda films are much more atractive for the international audience then i.e. Bluffmaster, Bunty or bubbly, NEal n nikki and crap like that .
But of course there is another great movie that could score internationally like Lgaan did---RANG DE BASANTI- one of the fines commercial films from Indian I have ever seen ( lagaan, Sholay, Devdas, The rising, Khakee I also cosider to have that calibre), .....
