The much anticipated movie of the year , hype and hooplah galore, throw in some political controversies that grab headlines, good music, stellar starcast, big banner... It had all the trappings of sure shot success , the stuff box office dreams are made of. But something went wrong.
Story : A blind (rather desperately so) girl , leaves her cold environs to find dubious wamth in the arms of a flirtacious tour guide, who woos her with stale urdu couplets..(Well given her desperation he need not even have tried too hard).Alls not hunky dory in la la land .. After she loses her heart (and viginity) to him , he turns out to be a ’’trigger’’ toting jehadi with dangerous plans of his own..
Mr.Kunal Kohli you are a proven director , no doubt ...but seriously what were you thinking ?
You had a beautiful canvas to paint your masterpiece but you ended up painting caricartures.
The story , characterizations and narration are so mismatched , flawed and cliched We did expect something better of you.Thank your ’’stars’’ ... literally.. they almost pulled it off for you !
Zooni (Kaajol): She is blind no doubt but does that transalate to being judgement impaired ?The character is portrayed as being so desperate for a man that Raaki Sawant or Miss Sherawat would have gleefully portrayed it.Lo and behold zooni falls for a cheap shayari spewing flirt and also manages to get laid in the process.(by the way .. dont people ever use protection?). Kaajol you actually bought some dignity to your portrayal ..hats off to your talent !
Rehan (Aamir): well well well.. complicated character no doubt but tremondously confused.Is he a street romeo ? a poet ? an emotional fool ? a terrorist with a heart of steel ? a cold hearted killer ? a gentle lover ?. He is everything and thats what is so confusing to the viewer. Yes we do need realistic portrayal of characters in Indian cinema , but with such a unbelievable cropper of a story what is the use of being so over the top realistic ?.The characterization reduces Rehan to a pathetic loser. Aamir you were the Captain as always , but only this time you captained a sinking ship
Meet the parents (Rishi Kapoor and Kiron Kher): Really progressive but also way Stupid !.You dont send your blind daughter to a big big bad world to find a mate and also egg her on with idealistic notions of love .
Also seriously.. a father who can sucessfully operate on a stabbed , bullet ridden Rehan missed finding out that his only daughters eyesight can be corrected !!.
But on the brighter side you actually provided the comical relief (albeit inadvertently).
Good guys who finished last (Tabu and Shivaji) : One is a boorish MCP who makes sexist remarks inspite of being a top notch intelligent official and the other is a wily woman who always proves the boorish MCP wrong.But please ..why are they there in the movie at all ? If it was to give the viewers edge of seat cop chase action , they sadly failed.We were in the edge of our seats alright .. but waiting for the movie to end and spare us of the tedious pace.
The dreaded terrorist named Nanaji!!: hahahahah... hohohoohoho... hehehehehehehe...hahahahahah.... oh man ... hahahaha .....hehehe...haha.roger and out.

Kaajol / Aamir / pro Narmada / anti multiplex fans ..please go see the movie.
Gujaratis .. khem cho ? please dont lose sleep about not being able to watch Fanaa.Lets just say you did yourselves a good deed.
Rest of us .. lets wait for Kunal Kohli to clean up his ’’act’’
