In may 09, I had been thinking of buying a slightly high-end Diesel hatch. I had a few options in front of me. First Skoda fabia - ruled it out for it’s unearthly pricing. Then came Suzuki Swift - This car is showing it’s age and also it has a 6 months or more waiting period.
Couldn’t get myself to wait for 6 months for a car. no way !. then the indica vista - this is a good car but sadly the looks are still a bit like the indica so the feels like a taxi. Finally the Ritz - For some reason I couldn’t get myself to see anything positive about the looks - looks boxy - so dropped it.
Then in June came the "Grande Punto". I was instantly impressed with its stunning looks. Went for a test drive. Was quite impressed and immediately booked a Punto emotion (diesel). I took the delivery last week.
At 6.5 Lakhs (on road) in Bangalore, it is a truly value for money car. Comfortable drive, nice interiors (not really top notch but quite okay), responsive engine. I would recommend this car to anyone looking for a good diesel hatch.
