My date with The Filling Station restaurant/bar came about unexpectedly. I was in Bangalore for a week recently, catching up on a whole lot of friends, and after the first few days was quite tired of meeting up with friends in the same old Baristas or Cafe Coffee Day etc..next option was to meet for a meal, and even in this aspect I was quite tired of doing the rounds of the tried and tested food joints that we normally went to. Thats when my friend suggested The Filling Station(FS) in Koramangala 5th Block(right down the road on the same side as Juice Junction, old Haldirams etc).
I happened to go there twice during my week in Blore, and the first time it was for dinner. We ordered some chinese food from the extensive menu, but we were quite dissappointed by the food and service that day. The Chinese food tasted at best like a water drenched meal and was almost tasteless. The service was quite poor that day, and we had to keep asking for small things like sauces etc, which was normally given with Chinese food anyways!
The next time I met up with a few friends to celebrate a friends birthday there at lunch time. We were a group of 4 guys and 4 girls and a large cake and we hadnt even booked a table, but this time it was a pleasant experience. We had a gala time celebrating his Bday with the special plate, knife, bowl etc being provided complimentary by the staff and they even joined us in the fun! Moreover, even though it was around 3pm when we ordered lunch finally, the food came on time, it was hot, and it was fabulous. However, this time we stuck to ordering Indian food, and it was lip-smacking!
All in all, this restaurant is a good place for Indian food. And of course, the drinks are all on display, soft/hard whatever is there. No doubt, before you leave, make sure you have filled your station:)
