Most Enjoyable Award ceremony of 2004

Looking back to 2004 would bring nostalgia to any person who is even mildly infected by the movies virus. It was arguably one of the most different , ‘hatke’ and interesting year for Hindi Cinema.

This review of mine would be more of nostalgia, a flashback at 2004 that just boring movie awards. Plus I have initiated a set of special awards…which would be interesting to watch out for ……

The Writers awards

First of all let me start with this. The year 2004 has been the year for better writing beyond doubt. There have films written on all genres and new ideas have also come up….in short the formula is being broken….or is it ? Unfortunately better writing is neither critical acclaimed this year nor has it been rewarded by the people at the box office. Just a glance back the box office winners and you would find that it’s only the formula film’s that still do well ! More on this in the business awards…let’s start giving off the awards without much ado.

Best Screenplay : Anurag Kashyap and Mani Ratnam for Yuva.

Maybe the film didn’t do well ….but the way it was written it was crisp and clinical…without doubt the most unique screenplay of the year.

Best Story : Aditya Chopra for Veer Zaara.

Leave it to Adi to create a modern day legendary love story.

Best Lyrics Prasoon Joshi Hum Tum and Phir Milenge

Move aside Gulzar sahaab and Javed Akthar…the new legend of the future is here. Prasoon Joshi the adman , poet and lyricit has come up with simply outstanding work the year 2004..with incredible lyrics in all his songs. Somgs like ‘Jeene Ke Ishare’ and ‘ladki Kyun’ can be carried simply on basis of his https://lyrics. A clear winner !

Best Dialogues Milap Zaveri for Musfir.

What more can I say ! This guy rocks

Special Awards : Most Oustanding movie Personality of the Year

Is it the usual suspects …SRK, Amitabh…..no no….we have someone new here…someone who has made tremendous effect in the film industry. Someone who single handedly has started a new formula, a new series, a new look at the world of cinema. Someone who is more heard about, more repesected but unlike his movie personally fame has eluded him….or he tries to avoid limelight….he is ADITYA CHOPRA

A Prodogy who has outshone is illustrious father in more ways than one, who has been the original idea behind every Karan Johar movie , who is an outstanding writer and most of all this year he has proved to be a wonderful produces. This year was no doubt the year of Yashraj Cinema…..Three huge hits and all backed by the Adi Chopra. ‘Hum Tum’ , ‘Dhoom’ and ‘Veer Zaara’ all in one year…what more can a man want ! Waiting to see you wear the directors cap again Adi….you have the Midas touch.

Music Award

Best Music Director of the Year Pritam for Dhoom.

What can I say….except Dhoom Machale ! The one song responsible for rocking every disco in the country, for starting a new trend of music in cinema and for single handedly making a movie hit ! Anu Malik too scores brownie points for ‘Murder’

Best Singer Female Tata Young for Dhoom Machale

Best Singer Male Kunal Ganjawala for ‘Bheegay hot’

Special Award – “Luckiest” person of the year .

This one goes to Zayed Khan ! After the work he had done in Chura Liya hai tumne…one would have thought his career would have ended even before it started….but it was sheer luck that Hritik turned down Lucky of Main Hoon Na and the role went to Zayed….I still think he would have been Farah Khan’s 2000th choice for the role ! But he did a great job in the film….won hearts and box office success and is now the big superstar to watch out for. The other day I saw him in Vaada….he was pretty good at it….just wonder how important it is to be Lucky in Bollywood !!

Acting Awards 1

Best Actor in Comic Role ArshadWarsi in Hulchul.

Akshay in Khakhee, Paresh Rawal in Aan, Akhay Khanna in Hulchul were other nominees.

Best Actor in Negative Role Priyanka Chopra for Aitraaz.

There were no other competition here ….she beats than all flat. The role in Aitraaz was not only outstanding but it actually is a template for all those actresses who want to play the bad girl in future !

Special Award – Surprise Hit’s of the Year.

Titillation, Vouyreism, and Sex in cinema is on the downside now. But if there was any year in which they did well at all or infact the year which made and broke the Titallation cinema trend it had to be 2004. ‘Muder’ and ‘Julie’ were two films , both surprise hits that made people realize that sex sells ….but you have to put it in the right way. Both Malliaka Sherawat and Neha Dhupia would win awards in cinema if this weren’t a upright, stand staright, politically correct world…..they are more viewed as Porn queens than good actresses but the work they have done in these movies…they deserve an award. Albiet Mallika would easily win the award for worst actress in Kis Kiski kismet…what an year she had !
