Final Destination II

As I sit down to write this review several things just hit my mind with that animal brute force in the same way this film has shook me to my bare fears. Several years ago I read a seemingly brief review bout Final Destination in The Hindu. Back then it made up a very interesting story. Now 2 minutes after seeing the follow-up to that film it had just made me feel very very creepy.

This one belongs to that genre of films that just shake all your pre-conceived notions about the secure n safe life n all that crap and leave u creepy and uneasy about your own self. Its far far different from the silly horror flicks where hideously colorful monsters just jump out of the dark corners baring their teeth and claws and start dashing at you. We feel frightened maybe during the film but then that fear is as long as the show is. But these genre of films are the ones that are so real, so frankly shown, it just becomes tough to take it out of your mind. They force you to think about it. They force you to make a note of them, like just I’m doing right now by writing this review.

Well have u ever thought if u were not supposed to do a thing that u have already done? Every small change in the nature of the events( like the exact place, time, etc ) that were actually supposed to occur could actually snowball into something big in the future. Its really sometimes mind-boggling as how something very insignificant could actually snowball into some awesome!!! Something like missing a bus today by you could actually be causing some major catastrophe in the life of your grand child ??? If u have got this right then the Final Destination 2 is just about this...

Now to the story. It is set about a year after the Explosion of the Flight-180 and the ill-fated survivors who fall to their deaths in rather bizarre extraordinary ways. Well not exactly falling to their deaths but impaled or decapitated or crushed n all the sick ways that a person could die fast, bloody and with a lot of pain during that death. Well, we open up to the room of a teenager, a girl to be precise. Its her friends n her that are out to some trip, maybe. She suddenly has some premonitions about a huge accident involving a number of people. If you have seen this film’s first part u might got by now that she will escape this. But then for a first timer like me this is really huge.

Well her friends disbelieve her and after some drama she gets saved but all the other three get killed. Now at this point the survivors are a police detective( who coincidentally had followed up on the Flight-180 accident ), a mother and her teenage son, a biker, a high reaching female entrepreneur, a drug addict, a lotto winner. Now to make the long story short all these meet very very frightening deaths at the hand of death itself. Finally that we are left with are the detective and our teenage female protagonist.

It is just that all these people involved in this film were actually supposed to be killed in those freak accidents in which the people in the earlier film had died. So now according to the story, there is a warp in the list of the DEATH. The people that were to die in the Flight 180 had escaped death. But they had to die. And so there comes the list of freak accidents in which they all die. But then what about those people that had to actually die in these freak accidents for whom these were actually meant for ? These people quite naturally meet their deaths in this part. And this truth is demonstrated to some extent by the death of the boy in the last reel. If we use this same logic this story can extend for another 15 parts or so...

The film is definitely creepy and full marks to the director for making this as frightening as possible. The black n white scenes that have interspersed within the movie just add that extra amount of creepiness to the film. The cast here have not much to perform here, the hero is the story. Well, accolades need to be poured upon that invisible villain of the film DEATH. It wouldn’t have been so interesting hadn’t it been for invisible omnipresence.

Well as for the gist of the story its just what u heard in the first part.

You can never cheat death Even if u succeed in doing so he’ll surely come back for you and this time he wont miss it.You can never change his plans, though you can have your fun postponing it.

As for the bad things bout the film there are many. First the film itself. Very pessimistic. The story sucks. Hey! Hey! I think I’m contradicting myself. I think I better leave now, otherwise I might as well find this review boring. One last piece of advice. Be Your Own Judge

Its not really so wonderful out there, isn’t it ? Well, my life goes on as it will. I need to have my supper and so I think I have altered my life to some extent by writing this worthless piece of crap.
