I had a tough time putting up a list of 5 best actresses as bollywood is a totally HERO oriented industry. Very hardly do one find heroine oriented films.So here is my list....before I start lemme tell uone more time...its a list of actresses not stars....no glamour doll here .
SHABANA AZMI- Before I start lemme tell u I find her extremely beautiful & sexy....yeah u heard it right I’m talking about Shabana Aazmi & not some Item song bimbo. She has done maximum serious work in hindi films...more then anyone else. Masoom, Sparsh, ARTH, Fire ...the list goes on...right now I cannot recall most of the movie names but I dont think I need to do that to prove why she is on TOP...right? Before I end I find SHABANA AAZMI the politician very annoying, very pseudo. I just dont like good actors getting into politics...its so cliche’ & pseudo. Only Sunil Dutt has been honest with his work till date.
SMITA PATIL- She was equally great & if hadnt had an untimely death, definitely would have been the supreme actress of our hindi cinema along with Shabana. Films like Arth, Mirch Masala, r the ones I remember but there r so many other offbeat movies she has done , one can loose count. And like Shabana she dabbled with commercial cinema also in-between her serious work. WISH SHE WAS ALIVE.
DEEPTI NAVAL- She has done the best hindi cinema in 80’s I like her films the most ’coz they were not too heavy like the other 2 actress before her . Most of the films were with FAROOQ SHAIKH who has not done 1 bad movie in his whole career. These 2 were the best pair on screen atleast from the 80’s. It was as if they were born to act with each other. Me & my friends call her Miss CHAMKO ....why? watch CHASHME BADDOOR!!! whatta movie. Then theres SAATH SAATH, a very adult themed movie with akbar khan or someone where her husband is an actor who sleeps around ...she starts off an affair with a young classmate in her painting classes...i watched it in school in late nite Doordarshan movie. Deepti WE MISS YOU!!!!!!
TABU- I became her fan after DIL PE MAT LE YAAR. She has picked up where her aunt Shabana & Smita Patil left. She does both masala & serious films at the same time.WHo would have thought that tall babe from that disastrous PREM will turn out to be such an good actress.
Machis, Dil pe , HU Tu , ASTITVA(goood movie) etc etc...lots more to come....I saw the promos of CHANDI BAR...looks like we have a good movie at hand...its looks like Satya type....
WAHEEDA RAHMAN- I had watched a lot of her movies in those Doordarshan days & I was a kid then though I wasnt a big fan of hers that kid(i was a KID) I was more into Saira Banu & Sharmila types ....hehe. But now I think she was the only serious & gracefull(personified) lady from the past era I know of ( I repeat I KNOW OF...there must be others too) She is the only one who has gracefully grown old unlike her contempories like ASHA PAREKH & Vajaintimala(who would have thought these dancing bimbos will be chair erson of censor board & national award comitee) whatta shame. Wahidaa looked beatiful behaved beautifully & worked in beautiful movies. she has done movie with most of the great directors from her time...
MITA VASHISHT- is she hot or IS SHE HOT!!!! shes is such a good actress with a FOX like sex appeal ....I dont think many will agree with my opinion here...& most of u must be surprised seeing her name here....but if people can put Raveena Tandons & Sonali Bendres(i like her too ...but...) then my ’’wet Dream’’ Mita Vashisht definitely deserves a mention....I remember a serial from DD days where she was a college proffesor ...i was in class 10 that time & i’m in love since then....:) Not to forget the epic SWABHIMAN...
