Its time to bring out the nostalgia of the 70s of Hollywood. This decade saw the release of some real winners. The movies were well-carved out, and the stories were absolutely surreal.
Ive listed my favourite 5 movies on the 70s. Do have a look at them:
5) Taxi Driver 1976
Have you seen our very own Sadak directed by Mahesh Bhatt? This movie is a complete copy, or should I say, inspired by this great movie called Taxi Driver.
The movie is directed by Martin Scorsese who tells us a story about a mentally unstable Vietnam war veteran who works as a night-time taxi driver in a city whose perceived decadence and sleaze feeds his urge to violently lash out.
Robert De Niro and Jodie Foster star in this lovely movie, which just goes to say that on every street in every city, theres a nobody who dreams of being a somebody.
The words are inspiring, so is the movie.
4) Jaws 1975
An absolute thriller by Steven Spielberg is an absolute wild ride.
The story is about a police chief, a scientist, and a grizzled sailor set out to kill a shark that is menacing the seaside community of Amity Island.
The complete movie portrays the terrifying power of a powerful beast. I was very young when I first saw this movie in Mumbais New Talkies, which is now getting transformed into a shopping mall.
Anyways, this movie will satisfy your hunger for a good movie.
3) Godfather-II 1974
This movie still has that charm, which it has some 3 decades ago.
Whenever I see this movie, my respect for Al Pacino and Robert De Niro grows even further. I still try to imitate Al who plays the lead role in it.
The story is about the early life & career of Vito Corleone, which is portrayed, while his son expands and tightens his grip on his crime syndicate in the 1950s.
It is a sequel to the first part of Godfather. But calling it a sequel is a travesty. Its just good by any words.
Francis Ford Coppola directs this movie with the same style, as he does for any other of his movie.
Filled with actions, dialogues, performances and glamour, Godfather-II is just beyond explanation.
2) The Exorcist 1973
The best horror movie ever made, The Exorcist still send the chill through my spines.
The story is about a 12 year old girl who is possessed by the devil and her only hope is an exorcism.
Something beyond comprehension is happening to a little girl on this street, in this house. A man has been called for as a last resort to try and save her. That man is The Exorcist.
Late Jason Miller plays the title role. The movie is very well directed and still remains one of the best in Hollywood.
1) The Godfather 1972
The immense success achieved by this movie can be credited to three people.
First, Francis Ford Coppola, the director of this movie, who gave us this ultimate classic.
Second, Marlon Brando, who plays the famous character of Don Vito Corleone.
And third, Al Pacino, who plays the key role of Don Michael Corleone, the son of Vito.
Ive seen this movie more than 10 times, and find it as fresh as ever.
The movie is about a Mafia boss son, previously uninvolved in the business, who takes over when his father is critically wounded in a mob hit.
So, we are in for a complete ride of our ride. It is just superb.
These were my favourite 5 movies of the 70s. I would also like to mention the names of some other great movies of the 70s. They are:
Star Wars
One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest
Apocalypse Now
Alien
Chinatown
and many more.
This decade will be still remembered as the golden years of Hollywood.
Bye then, people. Keep reading and writing, and do send in your comments.
Ciao then.
