“Where shall we go?” I asked my friends after finishing an Industrial Visit after a heavy downpour that morning. “The Production students are going to 5 star” “Then let us also go”, we decided. Ignoring our wet shoes and uniform, 6 of us on three bikes parked at the KG Theatre entrance. The theatre looked deserted, none seemed interested in the film of new faces, the downpour also causing considerable damage to the ticket sales. The man at the counter was glad to sell six tickets to us. Why no rush ? Is the film bad ?
A BIG NO is what I’ll say for the last question. I feel that this is one of the best films ever coz it got a very good theme, in no way harming the peoples culture. The film is about friendship, three boys and two girls. It is a story of how they maintain their friendship throughout their life and how the family circumstances of a boy separate him from the group. It is coz his parents believe that boy-girl friendship is not good and that their son should marry a girl of their choice. Fortunately the girl proves to be a sweet one but the boy fails to understand that coz of his anger with parents and goes abroad and gets settled. However this innocent sweet girl substitutes the remaining four friends amidst some really tricky situations. The 5 stars continue to be good friends throughout their life. The scenes in which the friends have a dance after being placed in the same company, how they throw tomatoes at each other for welcoming and the final scene at the beach are indeed very enjoyable.
Usually in Tamil Films boy-girl friendship turns into love. But I’m always against it as a friend is always a friend. I cant even imagine how two persons who are good friends can suddenly love, marry and s*x with each other. But this film is a very good example of boy-girl friendships. It dosent spoil the youth of today like the other films. There is no violence, heroism or style in the film. It is just a jolly film in which there are no heroes or heroines but only friends. The songs are melodious and a hit. The song “Sunday …” is very enjoyable especially for college students who know the fun in Sunday. It is really a good film for entertainment to the teenagers and a must see one. Also the story is a possible one. It is sad that the film didn’t hit coz of the new faces and lack of publicity. Is there anyone who can say anything about the film’s concept?
