Lets get to the topic rightaway and no nonsense. This is a serious issue - Who are the worst 5 actors/actresses of the Film industry also known as Bollywood(Its official now - refer to Business Week November edition). I wont be considering the yesteryear actors but the ones from the current lot. Also I have included bot male and female actors in my review.
This probably is the most difficult task.now there are so many of them but who fits into the top 5 current alltimers list. Hmmmm.
Here it goes.
Kishen Kumar: Backed by the music industry baron Gulshan Kumar, and after spending millions in financing his movies, that bloke could not even deliver a single hit. I guess, he started with a flick called Ajaa Meri Jaan and sunk with something called Papa the great. I guess even his papa refused to see him. Seems like Hollywood has signed him up for his scary looks in Scary Movie 3.
Twinkle Khanna: The typical indian mentality, a politicians son has to be a politician(e.g: gandhi family), similarly a film stars son/daughter has to be in bollywood. Twinkle is a result of this belief. This lady was a piece of wooden plank. An expressionless blunder. Her dialog delivery was pathetic. Its good to know that shes realised it pretty fast and is married to the other blunder Akshay Kumar(he would have been in this list too, but we are restricting it to five). I guess Rajesh khanna and Dimple too must be wondering on where did they go wrong. Is she really her daughter?
Abhishek Bachhan: O gawwwd! Now this dude was launched with such fanfare. Son of a Bollywood legend. But bollywood mentality strikes again. Not a single hit so far, and this guy is on a signing spree. Like Jim Carey said in The Mask.’This guy is encourageable’. His directors have sleepless nights. May be his producers should be called as’The Great Gamblers’ . a 70’s Amitabh Movie and Amitabh for relentlessly backing his son should act in the remake of Kishen Kumars’Papa the Great’.
Sonali Bendre: Wowwww! Niceeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Niceeeeeeeeeee! looks.thats it. This Damsel is in only for her looks and thats it! All the movie goers see her and thats paisa wasool. This pogo stick actress probably never knew what acting is. She probably was the highest paid’special appearance’ in the industry and her role lasted the entire movie.
Esha Deol: eeeeeeeeaaaaaaaasssssshhhhhhhh! Her face looks as if she was born snobbish. Her acting is rubbish and she should go and catch a fish(wah wah). Another product of our bollywood mentality. Her first 3 or 4 movies bombed miserably and the people have rejected her as an actress. Hope she takes a note of this and considers an intelligent career change.
Well there are some who missed the list.Tussar Kapoor, Sunil Sh(i)etty, Bobby Deol, Shilpa Shetty, Vivek Oberoi, Aftab Shiv. phew and the list goes on and on. Well, I pity the producers who make these selections(I wonder if they really have a choice considering the kind of talent we have in the film industry.every budding actor is in the industry due to some megastar connection). Well I hope our Bollywood picks up a few pointers from Hollywood and rather than going for quantity, shoots for quality.
Also I guess, We bollywood should consider stage actors who in my opinion are much better than the current crop. Naseeruddin Shah, Farooque Shaikh, Om Puri, Nandita Das, Amol Palekar, Aushitosh Rana, Manoj Bajpai, Utpal Dutt, Sanjeev Kumar, and then the Big B himself-Amitabh(who too was a stage actor in calcutta before moving into films).
Disclaimer: I do not personally hate these people but I also cannot watch them trying to act and entertain us for some 2.5+ hours. Watching them perform is a sordid misery that plummets you into the abyss of boredom and I guess I am not the only one who feels this way.
