As is natural for companies to create hype for new products, Ford is currently in that phase for Ecosport. They know they have a very good car and are making the most of it. I think they are artificially creating a supply-demand gap. Of course, many others do that too, having long waiting periods for their best-selling cars and at the same time ramping down production!
So as rightly pointed out in one of the reviews below, get the dealer to sign on the delivery date for your car.
I contacted Ford and their dealer Planet Ford in Pune for a test drive. On phone they said it is available & I can visit anytime. But on going to the showroom, I was told currently bookings, test-drives are all on hold for Ecosport due to the overwhelming response when the bookings were opened (in June 2013 I think).
On inquiring about exchange scheme, the salesman mentioned that there are no booking schemes for Ecosport, like exchange bonus, etc. As of 9-Aug-2013, they have also substantially hiked the prices for Ecosport.
So I will be waiting for the hype to subside, and meanwhile look for upcoming cars in the highly competitive compact SUV segment.
