Problem: Music system comes with Ford does not support any standard USB 2.0 pen drive available in the market.
Description: I had planned to purchase Ford Figo EXI version after 3 months of research and test drive of almost all Diesel compact car available in the market. However the sales person convince me to purchase the ZXI version by paying extra 30k by showing their music system sound quality. I am looking for a music system with DVD and USB support. But the system have only CD drive (Not DVD drive). The system also wrongly claims that system have USB 2.0 compatibility upto 8GB (100% false claim).
The USB system tried in various file format (Like FAT16, FAT32 etc) with the following USB drives
Sandisk Cruser - 4GB
Transend Jetflash 350 - 4GB
HP V165W - 4GB
Trasend Jetflash - 8GB
Sony Microvolt - 4GB
Some more well known and prominent drives brands borrowed from my friends
But none of the above drive worked with the system. The system is playing with frequent breaks in sound and shows ’USB ERROR’ after playing for 10 min to 1 hr.
There is one more gentleman came to Ford support with the same problem. Further I understood from other customer present at the Ford Service center that they also had same problem. But Ford successfully fooled by saying that their drives are infected with Virus.
Reported this problem to Ford India customer care. They asked to take my car at Ganges ford (Kolkata) for inspection. The technician also agreed to the problem I had mentioned. And said that ONLY SONY will WORK with this system. They also mentioned that same music system fits into their Fiesta and Classic model also other than Figo. (New ford Figo also have the same music system).
I had received a list of Ford compatible Pendrive ranging from 32 MB (not GB) to 512 MB and very few 1/2/4 GB drive compatible with the system and only one 8GB Pendrive compatible with the system. Further to my surprise none of the compatible drives mentioned in the list are available in Indian Market right now. (I have the list of compatible drives with me).
Now Ford India emailed me that my music system is perfect and there is no problem therefore they are closing the call.
So be aware that Ford Figo / Feasta / Classic music system will not support USB drive of your choice and please do further inspection before purchase so that you will not feel cheated like me.
