I'm first!

Now folks this is not really a review.you can call it a..um...well..yeah!, a preview!i will just tell you how this well..car, sorry..suv, no..hatch....okay fusion is going to be like. ford wants to position it as an suv type vehicle (karega!) which doesn’t describe it well at all. evenb though the cross over has suv charecteristics, it can NOT be called an suv. so more of hatch, less of SUV, and a little of sedan and estate.

i am calling it a car.the fusion is basically a crossover between a sedan, hatch and suv.so it is really practical.the space of an suv, handling of a hatch and the charecter of a sedan. it looks really good, wait a sec. i’ll give u a picture if I can..no not possible just type this web adress and u will see a picture-

this car looks really good.it has sparkling clear headlamps.i just love the headlamps.in the rear the tail lamps are mounted on top(like the endeavor, x trail)from the side it looks like an suv.a minimized suv or an enlarged hatch. anyway, it looks quite attractive.

the engine is a downsized version of the mondeo’s. the fusion is powered by a 1.6 liter petrol motor which pumps a very good 100 bhp. compared to its competitors, it is much more powerful. the engine is average in refinement. even though it is much more powerful, this does not translate into excellent performance. it is enthusiastic but not very exciting. its power makes it faster than its competitors.60 km/h comes in less than 6 seconds and 100 km/h comes in just 14 seconds. performance from this engine is sufficient and there is no shortage of power. top speed is a good 150+ km/h.

the interior is very spacious overall.that is one advantage of crossovers.while sitting in the rear the legs do not touch the front seats even if the front seat is pushed back completely.the dash looks attractive.gearbox is manual.there are two cup holders in the front, one with a removable ash tray(i would remove it). the quality is not the best, and the dash is rather cheap. but the design is good. the steering is like that on the mondeo with aluminium inserts. the dash has round ac vents. space isn’t a prob at all. on the whole a spacious well designed and equipped interior let down by some cheap bits.

the fuel efficiency is quite good for such a vehicle. it returns 12+ km/l in mixed conditions. on the highway it returns more than 14 km/l but in the city it dips down to 9 km/l which is not too good. the getz is also heavy like the fusion and so it also isn’t very efficient in fuel consumption. so compared to its competitors, it is just okay.

its price is around 6 lakhs. there are two versions; fusion and fusion plus. fusion plus has all the goodies like abs and so on. compared to hatches like the getz, it is not as good looking but is okay. the performance is just above average. but it will have to compete against the accent, baleno, ikon and city. the first three are okay, but it will be difficult to beat the city. to sum it up, it is a good car, but everything depends on from which aspect you look at it.

STYLING-9/10

BUILD-9/10

INTERIOR-9/10

FIT AND FINISH-9/10

ENGINE-9/10

PERFORMANCE-9/10

RIDE-9/10

HANDLING-8.5/10

FUEL EFFICIENCY-8.5/10

VALUE FOR MONEY-8.5/10

OVERALL- 9/10

i would like to mention that however practical the fusion may be, it is a little over priced. the indigo marina is much more spacious and though it is not the best overall package, it is MUCH more practical because of its price and it being an estate.
