Never ever visit Fortis hospital in Noida!

Fortis hospital completely traumatised our life and led to the sad demise of our unborn baby while my wife was 7 1/2 months pregnent.

As rightly stated on the other reviews, one has to waste around 4 hours for just consulting the doctor (Gynae) for 2-3 minutes. As we were consulting Dr. Madhu Srivvastava from the first trimester of my wife, it happened while she was 7 months pregnent that the doctors advised her to get hospitalized.

Now the main traume begins. This hospital is no doubt very professional and efficient in providing the services like ATM, florist, cafeteria, newspapers in the room, tata sky tv, excellent food menu, super cool air conditioning, clean corridors and everything else you can imagine. But dont you think I am missing out something?

Yes, the truth is that this hospital provides each and every facility except for ANY MEDICAL CARE. The nurses are so untrained that at times you would think that you are more knowledgeable than them in terms of medicines. Talking of nurses, it would be worthwhile to say that they are more knowledgeable than the DOCTORS!!!

Speaking of doctors, as in my wife’s case, the treating doctors were Dr. Madhu Srivastava, Dr. Vanika, Dr. Nisha. Let me tell you that apart from Dr. Madhu, Dr. Nisha and Dr. Vanika are very very very junior doctors and have got no professional approach. During my wifes’ hospitalisation, this team of doctors recommended giving steroids to her to stimulate the growth of foetus.

But, for medically sound people, they would understand that giving steroids might lead to very high blood sugar levels, which we were also not aware of. As, the hospital never bothered to check the sugar levels of my wife, the baby went into stress. Still the hospital never discovered the same for the next 3-4 days. She was then discharged after 5 days with a note that the condition of the mother and baby is stable. Needless to mention that almost all kinds of tests including Ultrasounds were performed duing he stay in hospital which shot up the hospitalisation bills to Rs. 48, 650 (for 5 days).

The very next day, we went to Ganga Ram hospital for a second opinion, where to our surprise, the ultrasound revealed the sad demise of foetus in the womb. We were completely taken aback and shattered as Fortis discharged my wife saying that everything is fine now!!! The doctor at Ganga Ram asked us as to how many Insulin injections were given (which were mandatory according to them) post Steroid injections in Fortis hospital. They were shocked to hear that nothing of such sort was administered to me in Fortis.

Later the autopsy of the foetus revealed the death due to cardiac arrest pertaining to very high sugar levels of the mother.I really condem going to hospitals like Fortis which are highly money minded, have untrained doctors and have no professional approach. My family members are in view to sue the hospital, I will keep this Forum updated of the developments.
