First of all, why should you buy a Used Car or a Second Hand Car?
1) any day cheaper than a new one,
2) easy to get rid of, because of low investments.
3) a scratch on a used car wont put a scratch on your heart.
4) You can look for a USED Accent CRDi when you have money for a NEW Santro XO.
Now that you are decided to go for a used car the real work starts. It’s an unorganized market out there. A used car can be bought from a family friend or may be by searching on the net.
So, here we go on how to pick the right one and bring it home.
You can’t see or identify much in a used car… you must take a trust worthy mechanic with you and tip him Rs.100. Because, if you don’t then the seller of the car might tip him and make him tell you that the car is good.
You can definitely " show – off " your knowledge by talking in big terms(like tyres age, engines age, chassiss originality). Also try putting down the car even if you like it… “koi itni achhi bhi nahi hai… aur koi bhi dekh hi sakte hain!!”(meaning- its not all that good. we can always look for another one.)
Ask for an MPFI engine(it started in almost all the cars from 2000 onwards. Remember all this Just to show off) Remove the carpet of the car a little from one side and look for rust… pretend as if u know all this. See inside the dickey and the corners… point at all the areas where you can see even a little bit of rust. You should actually avoid too much of the rust on the car but a small patch will not really be a hurdle if the car is maintained well otherwise.
Don’t forget to open the bonnet of the car and look at it as if you are former F1 champion. Then, just like that touch some wire. But take care… u must not remove any plug or wire. It might become an issue to put it back. Tell the other person to start the vehicle and give race… then don’t talk about the money. Try to take seller’s phone number and call him to talk about the price after 3-4hrs…
I’m telling u there’s no way we can identify a good used car. It’s a highly critical thing to make out an accidental car. Only mechanics can identify the difference between the original paint and the re-paint. I think the original paint is very smooth and shiny but the repaint is rough to touch and duller than original. Try to compare the paint on various surfaces of the car.
Just say no to any car which has any kind of repaint on it… u know what it means… it might had got TRANSFORMED into not a ROBOT, but JUNK(HAVE U SEEN the movie -Transformers?).
So wait for another car but don’t buy any repainted car.
