GHOST!!

This has got to be one of my all time favorite Patrick Swayze movies. GHOST starring Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore, and Whoopi Goldberg, is now a classic amongst many movie watching fans.

In Ghost, Patrick Swayze plays an investment counselor who is killed by a mugger one night, but remains on the scene in his spirit form to observe as his lover, played by Demi Moore, weeps and mourns and then attempts to piece her life together.

Swayze has an important piece of information he needs to get to her, that his death was not an act of random urban violence, but a contract murder. He was about to stumble across a multimillion-dollar scheme to launder drug money, and that’s why he was murdered. Now Moore is in danger.

Whoopi Goodberg plays a self appointed psychic who tries to convince Demi Moore that her lover is trapped between two worlds as a ghost, trying to get information to her. Moore doesn’t believe it, of course. After all, who in their right mind believes in messages from beyond the grave? What’s amazing is that Goldberg really is able to hear every word Swayze says to her - even though she has no previous record of genuine psychic powers.

Ghost makes a nice mixture of horror and humor.

The movie has a few good scenes like when Swayze and Moore are clay sculpting late one night while we hear the theme song playing in the background. Who could forget The Righteous Brothers belting out Unchained Melody? Great scene.

Another memorable scene for me was the demons from Hell coming to take away the bad guys kicking and screaming! Gotta love it!!

All in all, I would recommend Ghost for a Saturday night movie rental. It does, however, contain some scenes that may not be suitable for children under twelve, like the death scenes and the love scenes.

Enjoy! And don’t forget the box of Kleenex.
