As far as the tourism industry is concerned India is a huge potential.
3 places which any traveller must visit during a trip to India are the
States of Jammu & Kashmir, Kerela and Goa.
Goa is Indias most popular tourist destinationa and is mostly a beach resort.
To really enjoy Goa I suggest you take atleast 6-7 day off.
You can divide your schedule in to the following way
1) On the first day you can just relax and roam around in the market place of the area where you are staying
2) Take a tour to North Goa by local tour operators (Bus operators)
3) On the third day take a trip to South Goa
4) On the fourth day you can visit the Baga Beach
5) On the fifth day you can visit the callingute beach/miramar beach
6) Just shop around on the last day.
Make it a point to spend the saturday night at Titos which is Goas most popular joint (disco).
Although the entry charges are very high..Rs 300 per person its definately worth it if you are out with a group or a date.
One main point is that the local transportaion is very very very expensive.
For eg..A rickshaw charges Rs 100/150 for distance of 8-10 Km and a maruti van is about 7-8 Rs per kilometer.
For all those staying In maharashtra or nearby goa border.. I suggest you take your own car/transport.
The accomodation is reasonable and the food is also very reasonably priced.
For all those who consume alcohol the good news is that alcohol is cheapest in Goa.
You can also obtain an alcohol permit which is valid in Goa and maharashtra from Goa itself.
You can either stay in Mapusa or nearby the beaches.
Also make it a point to visit The Taj Aguada.
For those travelling by train...
From Bombay You can catch the Konkan Kanya expres which leaves Bonbay V.T at around 22:00 annd reaches Goa Next day at arounf 10:00
There is also a train from Kurla Terminus which leaves at 14:00 but try and not cathc this one as it will reach at a very awkward time at 2:00 in the night.
For those travelling in Bus
There are regular A.C. Buses from dadar/Bandra/Chembur and vashi
The fare is around Rs 450
The airfare to goa is around Rs 4500 (return)
But the airport is veryt far from the main cities of Goa so I suggest a train or a car is much better.
The best time to visit Goa is in Late December-Early Jan.
But plese do prior boiokings during these times or else you will have no where to stay.
Also make it a point to go to goa with friends rather then family as you will enjoy more with them.
DO NOT GO TO GOA WITHOUT A CAMERA
