For the past two weeks are so, ive literally been mesmerized by ‘The Godfather”. First it was the book and now it’s the movie. No book made get involved in to it as this one did. So when I completed the book, I could hardly resist my temptation for watching this movie. The book was one of the best sellers of all time. So I was just wondering how the movie would be, as it has to do full justice to the book. But after watching the movie I was even more thrilled about the book. Goodness gracious!!! It was one of the best movies and brought in great performance from the star cast.
I think the plot of the story is discussed time and again. So let me skip the plot of the movie. For people who know nothing about the plot please check the below given link:

The mainstays of the movie are mainly two characters Don Vito Corleone played by Marlon Brando and Michael Corleone by Al Pacino. Brando was just so perfect for the character. He had a great screen presence and carried the role of the don with complete finesse. His husky whispering way of dialogue delivery looked very natural of the character. His body language was so apt. It is said that Brando wanted to look like a bulldog for the character and had special dentist equipments fitted into his mouth. His performance showed what a perfectionist he is. He got the best actor Academy Award for this movie.
Matching him equally was Al Pacino as the Don’s youngest son. The transformation he shows from a young guy who stays aloof from his family business to the man who takes over from Don is impeccable. He would have beautifully underplayed his character and would have avoided being very dramatic and very emotional. ?Be it the scene where he speaks to the father of Apollonia or the scene where he pledges himself to the family to the Don, they all show his great acting capabilities. This role indeed made Al Pacino a great star.
All the other actors would have played their part very well. The Screenplay of the movie was handled by Mario puzo himself along with Coppola. Transforming such and epic novel into the screen was not an easy job, but they have done it exceedingly well. The efficient screenplay was one of the biggest assets of this great movie. It keeps the viewer always involved with it. The background score needs special mention, as does the cinematography with very little lights. The correct usage of background score makes this movie even more thrilling to watch.
On the whole the entire movie is a treat to watch, but still a couple of them standout:
· The scene where Woltz finds head of the horse on his Bed.
· The Hospital Scene
· Killing of Luca Brasi
· Killing of Solozzo and the Captain McClusky
· Apollonia’s death
· Michael’s conversation with Moe Greene
· Don’s Demise
· Baptism and Killing – Climax
It’s the best ever gangster movie made. It remains as one of the classics forever. The movie is voted as the all time best movie made by several Polling over the two decades. Indeed it’s all worth it.
