This film had all of us in laughs, and even a repeat telecast on the various channels doesnt fail to bring chuckles now. The film had all the good ingredients to make it a great film. The cast was a class one. Amol Palekar, Utpal Dutt, Dina Pathak, Bindiya Goswami, and some good music to boot.
The film is all about a young man on the lookout for a Job. Amol Palekar is given a reference by his uncle for a job at Utpal Dutt’s office. The trick however is that in order to get the Job, Amol has to dress up like a nerd, greasy hair, and the like, with tameez etc, and a pride about moustache.
With the help of his friend (deven Verma) in the film industry, Amol sets out for his interview dressed just right.At the interview he hoodwinks Utpal Dutt, and gets the job. All is well and going well, when one day , Amol (who has professed his dislike for sports to his employer) making an excuse that his mother is sick (his friends call up) goes for a hockey match. Unfortunately Utpal Dutt sees him there and sees red. When confronted with this news, to save his job, Amol informs his boss that it wasn’t him, but his good for nothing brother.
From here on starts the funny tale of how Amol, in order to cover up one lie, goes on creating more hassles. he gets an actress to play his mother, has to shave off his moustache to Act as his brother and to coach Utpal Dutts daughter (Bindiya) in music.
The film has its hilarious moments, with Utpal Dutt stealing the show, with his fine performance.
