I stayed in Grand Hotel in Agra in March 2011. I arrived there around 6pm in the evening and was offered a room which had only one window *(opening in the small lawn surrounded by buildings).
1) I had paid extra for kid so asked for a bed and they offered to put the bed on floor.(Now I smile at their service level but could not smile at that point of time), so much for a paid service? I had to request them to put a bed for my kid. May be they are used to have more singles as guests.
2) Next I entered the bathroom and noticed that hot water supply was missing. I called up the reception and they told me to keep running the tap for 5 minute and it should be there. I called up again but apparently hot water suppy was not there. Despite my reminders they could not fix it till 11pm in the evening.
3) I had to ask for drinking water in the room. There were no checks by housekeeping even on arrival.
4) I had paid for my food while booking. While checked in, receptionist did not hand over food vouchers to me and I had to come back later to collect vouchers while I came for dinner. Even then, he offered coupen for dinners while the hotel was booked for 2 nights and 3 days. Why cannot they keep the food voucher ready before/on arrival when they are paid for at least 2 weeks in advance.
5) There were mosquitoes in the rooms and we had to ask for repellent.
6) Food was good all the time. They offered to cook(on order) for kids and buffet was good. They can further improve upon by adding some variety to the menu.
7) It is close to Taj Mahal, cannot remember exactly but around 3 Km(I guess).
8) Parking is not that good at hotel. somewhat congested.
Good food and close to the Taj Mahal are the two reasons, I recommend it.
