Whats the latest buzz word going around?
~LIMITED MOBILITY~
What is it actually? Well for those who do not know, it refers to WiLL i.e. Wireless in Local Loop
The latest entrants into mobile telephony, namely, Reliance and Tata .and in my faint memory even, MTNL have agressively chosen for this type of enty into the market of limited mobility!
WLL, in other words, a mobile for a short distance!
But why is it only for short distances?
( Actually restricted to 50 km radius)
Well the restriction is not due to technology, but it is imposed by the government.for providing relief to other mobile player who have paid licence fees to enter the market.however, being a basic licensee, Reliance and Tata have also to fulfill certain conditions for spreading telephony to rural areas. Hence artificial limitations!
So,
Is CDMA.the technology used in WLL inferior to GSM(Used by Orange/Airtel/BPL, etc etc)?
The answer is NO!
Infact the technology i.e. CDMA2000 1X or Code Division Multiple Access2000 1X is superior to GSM!
These are the reasons why:
Spectrum Management - CDMA technology uses the radio wave that carry the signal from phone to the towers more efficiently than GSM. So the scarce spectrum is utilised more efficiently!
Radiation level - As far as radiation level concerned, CDMA is the most harmless one among all existing technologies. CDMA technology checks 800 times per second its transmission level. Therefore, radiation level is 10 times less GSM. Smart, isnt it?
Security - The origin concept of CDMA scheme was recommended by QUALCOMM(the famous communication provider in the US and worldwide), . Shortly describing the technology, CDMA uses a radically different approach as AMPS and GSM does. It assigns a uniquecode to put multiple users on the same wideband channel at the same time. The codes so-calledpseudo-random code sequence is used by both the mobile station(handset) and the base station to distinguish between conversations. Simply saying, imagine the room with lots of couples and each couple speaks on a different language. Every couple understands each other clearly
CDMA has the spectrum management advantage and the ability to take on 3G speeds as well as being the most secure of the two.
GSM has the advantage of having the majority of the world using it with all the options that come along with that.quantity can beat quality at times.
