“Aloha Mora”, says Hermione and with a swish of her wand opens the huge door of a dust dungeon. Don’t be confused, it is just an extract from the second book from J.K. Rowling’s runaway hit series of Harry Potter!
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is the successor to a book that launched J.K. Rowling as the best fantasy book writer of the current era. The first book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was such a huge hit that J.K. Rowling was compelled to write a successor to it. Unlike movies where sequels don’t do well, the second book of the series has been the best out the four that have been released so far.
I am sure it would have been a daunting task for J.K. Rowling to write a book that would do fair justice to its predecessor. For all of you who have read the first book and liked it I promise you that the second book will blow your mind! The magic of the first book is not only carried forward in the second book but also magnified many times to provide thrill for readers of all tastes. The second book promises a more detailed and nail-biting climax than the first one. In this review I will not reveal the whole plot but just give you a rough idea as to what’s in store for you.
The second book starts with Harry’s guardians troubling him as usual. But soon Ron comes into Harry’s Rescue. Harry is rescued in a flying car in spectacular manner. Then from Ron’s house Harry gets a taste of the fastest way of traveling in the wizard world – Floo powder. Then when they reach school the adventure begins straight away.
A series of brutal murders take place and the murderer leaves a message at every crime scene. The message is that the murderer has opened the chamber of secrets and he is going to rid the school of all Mudbloods (children from non-wizard parents) because he is the heir of Slytherin (the guy who didn’t like any mudbloods). Every one is totally terrified in the school. Then one day Harry accidentally speaks in parceltongue (language of the snakes) in front of the whole school and immediately everyone suspects him to be slytherin’s heir because even slytherin could speak in parceltongue. But soon Harry discovers a magical diary through which he learns a lot about the school’s history. He also finds a lot of information about the last time the chamber of secrets was opened.
I won’t tell you anything more (because that will spoil your suspense). In fact I would suggest you to go ahead and read the book right away and I guarantee you that it won’t be a waste of time. I also issue a warning for those who are weak at heart to leave the book before the climax because I doubt they’ll be able to handle the action-packed, nail-biting and exciting climax of the book. So go ahead and Happy Reading!
