About the Author Joanne Kathleen Rowling started her writing career at six with a story called Rabbit. She has worked as a teacher and has been an unemployed single parent. She wrote Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone at a cafe during her daughters naps. Ever since the book was published in 1997, her life has changed dramatically after the spectacular success of the books.
