Let me start with some boring background info..
I picked up the first HP book - The philosophers stone when I was terribly bored - for some light reading.. not expecting much more than just another childrens book.. While the fist half was good, the second half was brilliant! The second book was quite good, but the books 3 & 4 were the ones that were a real cut above the rest! The ending in book 4 really created a sense of anticipation - and I eagerly awaited the release of The Order of the Phoenix..
And now, on to Order of the Phoenix..
I was one of the first to buy it out here.. read the entire book overnight.. and.....
What a bore! What really made the previous books a delight was the plot. Rowling always managed to come up with the unexpected, and take the readers by surprise.. But in Book 5, was there a plot? On second thoughts, maybe thre was.. but sadly, it was too plain obvious. Anybody could have guessed that! And what more - this is probably the one HP book thats devoid of humor! Maybe Im wrong, but in that case, I guess I missed it completely!
The book goes on and on.. without much of a plot, all dark and gloomy, pages and pages.. and what happens finally? One of the best characters in the series manages to get killed!
A huge disappointment to say the least. You may not agree, but its just my opinion..
