Ok ok this isn’t a heavy metal review....want to know about Heavy Metal? I hated it. Now on to a GOOD movie. Hedwig and the Angry Inch Screenplay and Direction by
John Cameron Mitchell and starring him aswell.
I LOVED this movie...It is about a gay man (hansel) who grew up in berlin, and to get to america married an American GI. Hansel endures a botched sex change leaving him with a somewhat mutilated ’member’
After coming to the states and having his husband leave him, Hansel then decides to form the band Hedwig and the Angry Inch. (title make more sense now?) As a child Hedwig/Hansel grew up listening to american music, And decided this was his chance! Believe it or not this movie has an incrediable sound track, amazing make up effects (John Cameron Mitchell is actually beautiful in some scenes) very colorful characters and jokes, and lots of heart. This film is one of the most entertaining films I have seen since John Waters ’’hairspray’’.
Some familiar faces include Michael Pitt as Tommy Gnosis, Hedwigs younger flame,
And Andrea Martin as phyllis stein the bands agent.
I highly recommend it. and give it 5 outta 5 stars!
