Herbie The Love Bug

Start your Engines. Herbie the most beloved car star of them all is back and Lindsay Lohan’s got him in Disney’s all new revved up comedy adventure Herbie Fully Loaded.

1968 The Love Bug. This was the year when the first of the Herbie movies was released The Love Bug. The movie was on Herbie a car - but no ordinary car. The Volkswagon Beetle with a mind of its own from the showroom to the race track, with various close escapes in between. The movie had Dean Jones, Michele Lee and David Tomlinson. This was followed by three further Movies on Herbie

1974 Herbie Rides Again :- In this movie the living Volkswagen Beetle helps an old lady protect her home from a corrupt developer. Alonzo Hawk is a mean-spirited property developer who has bought several blocks of land in the downtown district in order to build a gigantic shopping mall. There is one problem however; an elderly widow named Steinmetz won’t sell the one remaining lot that Hawk needs to proceed with his scheme. So he resorts to all manner of chicanery, legal or otherwise, to get it. Fortunately, the widow Steinmetz has an ace up her sleeve in the form of Herbie, the miraculous Volkswagen

1977 Herbie Goes Monte Carlo:- Herbie, the Volkswagen Beetle with a mind of its own, is racing in now in the Monte Carlo Rally. Unbeknownst to Herbie’s driver, thieves have hidden a cache of stolen diamonds in Herbie’s gas tank, and are now trying to get them back.

1980 Herbie Goes Bananas, the fourth film in the series, departs from racing and heads to Central America. The film remains entertaining in the spirit of old-fashioned Disney comedies, and it offered an original story. It’s not a great movie, but it is innoccous and diverting. Herbie’s funny adventures heading toward a race in Brazil. Charles Martin Smith and Steven W. Burns try hard to bring some life into this project, but it just doesn’t happen. There is one good laugh in the whole thing, in a scene where Herbie becomes a matador.

2005 Herbie Fully Loaded. After a gap of 15 years Herbie rolls back in action and this time he is back and Fully loaded.

Maggie Peyton (Lohan), the new owner of Number 53 - puts the car through its paces on the road to becoming a NASCAR competitor.

A third generation member of a NASCAR Family. Racing is in Maggie’s Blood but forbidden by her overprotective Father. Maggie Peyton graduate from college receives a graduation present from her dad (Michael Keaton) and as she’s about to get a 250Z, she instead receives a Volkswagon Bug (Herbie)

Herbie takes over all of Maggie’s driving. After having her best friend Kevin (Justin Long) restore Herbie, she goes to the car show and beats all-time racer Trip Murphy (Matt Dillon) and he demands a rematch, Trip attempts to discover the secret behind Herbie. After losing a big race to Trip because of Herbie’s stubborness, Maggie enters the Daytona 500 and who knows, will Herbie win?

Personal Comments:

Herbie: Fully Loaded - Movie is Quite Good. In a day and age of films that are just not really family friendly, this one shines in that aspect. It is a good, clean family film. No bad language, no sex, no violence. (Hmm, maybe that is why some people would not like it.)

Do you have to be a real ’’Herbie’’ fan to enjoy it? I don’t think so. You just have to use some imagination and get into the ’’spirit’’ of the film. I think that Lindsay Lohan does a good job at her role in the film,
