Still Digging it ......

?It?s a novelty , consumes less fuel, and the best part is that chicks dig it?

Quote from the movie ?How to loose a guy in 10 days?

Sometime back I decided to be a biker from the ?cycler?, or worse ?autorickshawer? that I was, afterall evolution was necessary to counter tougher situations as Darwin had said, and the tough habitat in my case was joining college. So in the quest of the ?Survival of the fittest? I asked my venture capitalist to invest in a miscellaneous expense for overall benefit of the initial investment (in short I asked my dad for money !). That was the easy part, the difficult part was the next question my dad asked, ?So which bike are you buying and how much would I have to cough up ? ’’

It?s is always a million dollar question isn?t it, ?which one ?? The factor of ?one? is a greatest limitation when the choices are a million. This is the question that is the fuel of sites of mouthshut.com, that is the inspiration behind the many advertisements you see and that is what faced me once again when I went to look for a bike. ?Which one ??, I hoped I just had enough money to buy everyone, but that was not to be, I had to choose, so I tried?.

So coming back to the choice part, here is a question, imagine you are a bachelor, who is going to ’invest in a marriage’, you have choices of three brides all willing to marry you. Let?s imagine it as one of those marriage reality shows. Bachleoress number one is not the most good looking bride you could have but is very efficient, great at house work and very caring, Bachleoress number two is okay looking, you are not very sure of her housework skills but her personality is the kind you like and the third is a underwear model who might be slightly difficult to get, but is gorgeous, sexy but if you are thinking about her housework, caring, wife skills, personality, forget it, she has none of this. Again the question is whom would you choose.

In the world of bikes I faced similar problem, choice one for me was Hero Honda ambition, bacheloress two was TVS Victor and number three was of course CBZ. It cracked my mind, I got sleepless nights over the choice, I considered every angle of the selection, read every review, searched every site, I got no answer, as the answer had to come from within.

And finally one night, I got up from my dream, sweating, no it wasn?t a nightmare but one of those ?Kekule? dreams of inspiration. I don?t remember the dream but I remember that it mean?t one thing, ?Choose something which you would not regret in future !? . I got my answer, I interpreted is that choose the best money could buy, in this Pre-Karizma era the best I could afford was CBZ, so inspite a lot of resistance from my financer who tried to change my thoughts to save around 10Ks, I did not budge and the next day, I saw a cool green (yes green !) CBZ parked in my garage.

I started to daydream. I dreamed of cool girls riding with me on the rear seat, I dreamed of people staring when I drove into my college, I dreamed of people in my college, the lesser mortals discussing about me and my bike and saying how cool I was ! Within a few months my dreams were to be shattered?

I don?t know how much of a impact this CBZ had in my life. For one I started calling ?Zed? (yea that?s wrong uncool English because I bunked my classes in the Kindergarten !) to a cool ?Zee?. The second impact I had was the impact of the scar on my face which I got from the accident, or should I say accidents I had driving the bike, but apart from that it was the disaster !

The day I walked in my college, I saw that not one but there were a complete four people in my class alone who owned a CBZ (okay I was the only one with a Green CBZ !) Infact there was even a talk of starting of a CBZ club or a CBZ gang or something. Whatever, the purpose was not solved, it was no novelty.

Coming to the fact of consuming less fuel, well since I bought the bike the only person who consuming less fuel was my dad . He started to eat less worrying about the large petrol bill he would have to sponsor. The mileage it gave me was pathetic, infact even my 5 year old Maruti was giving more mileage that the bike ! It consumed petrol like it were a descendent of ?Ghatotkach? !

And what about the most important part chicks digging it, well this was one which hurt me the most. Chicks did not dig the bike, becasuse one it was not a new thing, everyone had a CBZ, two they found the bike accelarting with 160 cc engine was too dangerous (especially with my track record of a thousand accidents, including the one in which I dashed my bike with a pig and got a stich on my eyebrow) and three ?Oooo you have TVS Victor, Sachin wali bike, can I ride with you !? (okay I have the most uncool girls in my college, I agree with you !)

Of course the very inspiration of buying the bike that I never regret again was lost. I thought that if I bought a cheaper bike, I would regret ?Hope I had a CBZ?, well that has never happened, ever. I regret having it instead. I guess I misinterpreted my dream. So for all those thinking of buying a CBZ, my suggestion is avoid, and if you are hell bent to fall in the ditch at any cost, here is another suggestion, don?t buy a green one !!
