Honda CBR 250 R - 'Beauty n the Beast'

Hi friends, this is Rohan, sharing my first week impressions of the Honda CBR 250 R. I have come back to biking after around 3 years, during which I was only on 4 wheels. Am pushing 30, m doing well in my career, and wanted a bike wihch kind of portrays my personality and speaks my mind.

Did test drive the yamaha R15, couple of bullets, CBR 150 r and the 250 r with and without ABS.

Finally had my heart on the CBR 250 R.

Pros:

  1. Looks ’Beauty’: I personally believe this is the best looking bike in the resonably affordable segment on Indian roads. though the Yamaha comes a close second for me.

  2. Engine ’Beast’ : This is the beast, with the kind of power it has . Just great!!!, amazing pickup, smooth and crisp throttle response. Have had similar feedback from friends and many blogs. Completely agree.

  3. Handling: Very stable at high speeds, and comfortable to manouver in city traffic.

Nice to make your way through traffic, and at lights, easily shoot and leave the rest behind.

This can actually reduce your travel time by 20-30 minutes, which in a city like Mumbai, can save your job, believe me.

  1. Comfort: Very nice suspension, with and without pillion rider. Comfortable for long rides, though the riding position places a bit of stress on the wrists, which is fine for a sportsbike frame. 5. Parts quality: Pretty good, teflon coating is worth it, keeps the shine and gloss for a long time, with periodic repeats. the whole frame and parts look well put together and solid. Expect it to hold on even in the long run.

Cons:

I have only 1 concern which is the splashing of muddy water on wet roads onto the shoes and pants.

Also, though still to experience the rains, have heard that the radiator which is completely exposed at the front gets very dirty, and is very difficult to clean as it is delicate and cannot spray high pressure water at general car washes.

If anyone has a suggestion on saving the radiator and the shoes and pants, please post your comments.

I don’t want to spoil the look by placing some sheet as normal bikes.

Can some custom made mudguard be used to address this? Overall I feel the CBR 250 R is worth the money, and gives an altogether differently pleasing and great biking experience.

Thanks and happy biking to all!

Enjoy this ’Beauty n the Beast’
