I am Karthikeyan.** My first bike is an ex-army Enfield Bullet. Previously, I was doing a business of buying ex-army motorcycles, jeeps and restoring it, for retailing in the "second hand automobile market".
At that time during the year 1985, I decided to retain an restored army bike for my personal use and I been using it until now .
I drove it to rough terrains, inter-states, daily city so on. I loved my bullet for its terrific handling especially its handling capabilities during emergency situations. A good bullet bike would never let you down.
Let me come to the Unicorn, which entered as a new partner in my life. As the Chennai traffic is exploding day by day it is a punishment to drive a bullet to various places in the city.
I had in my mind of buying a new vehicle but it took me all these years to convince my self to switch from bullet for a new one. As you all knew replacing bullet for some other is a hard decision in terms of selection. So I decided to watch each and every review in bike magazines and other regarding selection. Also I used to watch the other bikes in the traffic their handling so on. Each and every time I came across a unicorn it gave a sense of involvement on its mechanical improvement in suspension for modern day road conditions.
I test driven an apache, pulsar, cbz. But I not interested in karizma motor cycle, since my friends warned me about its mileage.
After buying the unicorn Firstly I noticed that there is no difference between a bullet and unicorn in terms of steadiness. Let me explain further.
1. The difference between a two shocks and mono is clearly seen only in very bad roads. The unicorn is a master in handling the situation.
2. Wheel base. The Unicorn is taller than a pulsar and gives a commanding ride
3. Sound. When ever a pulsar passes by I hear only the Pulsars sound but not the Unicorn. Very good for long journey since it wont give noise headaches.
4. Superb speed. It is 150cc bike but it can be compared with 180 cc pulsar only. Because the Unicorn never respects a 150 cc Pulsar when come to speed. Hope the new Unicorn owners agree.
5. Head light is good.
6. Tail light is good. Good Brakes and front suspension is equally good
7. Mileage is excellent 55 kms when considering its road performance.
8. 5 years Honda warranty. Out standing.
9. Roller raker arm gives smooth ride in high gears at low speed.
10. New looks and good paint job.
Now let us discuss the negatives.
1. The horn sound is surely not for unicorn, considering its speed.
2. The engine is capable of accepting a 6th gear considering its power. May be Honda will introduce later.
3. The Speedo meter light is not much visible in dark when the vehicle goes at slow speed. The Light system make us to remember the old Chetek scooter
4. The Rear View Mirror quality is very bad. The reflection coating is decaying very soon.
If Honda considers these improvements in the future, Honda is set to be market leader soon.
