Good man in bad army

Well the title says it all. It  is a good product trapped in a uncanny set of distributors and service centres.I was looking for a 2 wheeler in >110 CC category as I wanted to replace my old bike TVS Victor. My priorities were 1. 5 gears 2. Comfortable 3.good dimensions 4.engine performance 5.Mileage and finally looks.

I did round up my choice to HH Achiever, HH CBZ Xtreme, Bajaj Pulsar , HUnicorn and TVS Apache.Had to drop all other bikes except Unicorn & Achiever as I was never felt comfortable riding rest of them.Again had to drop Achiever as its sales isn’t that good and I was worrying about its service which is a critical point in buying a bike.

So bought this bike in Mar’08 after HMSI did help me resolve my horrible problems with the dealer at Thane.Infact I have posted a review about them in MS(2 wheeler dealers section). If interested to know then follow the link.https://mouthshut.com/review/Sai_Point_Honda_-_Bombay-140376-1.html

So here is a brief review about the first 1000 Kms of joyful and comfortable riding with this bike .As usual I don’t post tech details as it can be found from any auto journal or websites.

PROS:

  1. Dimensions : Well it is taller, wider and heavier among all above my choices.I like the dimensions.

  2. Comfort : We can say it is most comfortable among its class.I ride atleast 50 Kms per day and I feel no pain at all.Neither I get fatigue nor bored :).Riding poisition is good.

  3. Engine : Even if you go past 100 KMPH the engine doesn’t generate much noise. No doubt it is an engineering marvel.

  4. Pickup : Really good pickup. Can vroooom to 100 mark at ease.

  5. Mileage : It gives me a decent 57KMPL for the past one month which is above my expectations.

  6. Gear box: Its a pleasent experience when switching gears. No noise at all.

  7. Brand : HONDA.Guess it needs no explanations(Naam hi kaafi hai ).

CONS:

Yes this bike isn’t Mr.Perfect and has its own cons.To name a few,

  1. Fuel Tank : Fuel tank looks toooo huge and this big a tank is not needed at all.Can be done with 11 litres instead of 13 litres tank. But it adds a bit bulkiness to the bike which is acceptable for me.

  2. Pillon rider : Pillon rider’s height is bit more than normal.Short peoples may find bit difficult to place themselves initially.

  3. Brakes : Well the quality of brakes are fair.Being a HONDA product brakes are below my expectations. For both rear and front brakes HONDA should have gone for Disc brakes  than Drum which is becoming passe.

  4. Sales & Service : This being the most crucial part and I can say HONDA’s dealers are pathetic.Such a wonderful product has got trapped between bad sales & service providers.Though HONDA do take care of any issues posted by customers but HONDA can be bit proactive and tighten their Dealers.

i have completed first free service. But I am not satisfied by the kind of service carried out by the dealers.

Other than the negatives listed above I couldn’t find any.If so I will update this review.

I love riding this bike for longgggg..

I recommend this bike to everyone who likes to go for a150CC/5geared/>10Bhp bike.

Happy Riding,
