Its NOT A SANTRO

I have come across umpteen comparisons of the i10 with the Santro. Everyone seems to think this is an upgraded version of a Santro. However, once you own and drive the i10 all illusions are dispelled.

It’s clearly NOT a Santro - except probably only that it’s the same segment car as the Santro. Other than that - the engine, interiors, drive quality, and overall experience - make it evident that it’s a completely new car, built to much better standards than the Santro.

While the Santro is a great car, the i10 is at least 10 times better. The power steering is great, and makes driving in city a breeze. This is amply aided by a great, torque-filled, extra-smooth engine which gets you ahead of anyone you like. I have driven it in city traffic and on the highway - and overtaking has never been an issue. You just have to point and shoot - it never hesitates.

The gear shift is great - short throws and slick shifts make it butter smooth to operate. Another thing you will notice is absolute lack of any vibration in the gear stick since it is now cable operated(unlike in Santro where the gear stick vibrates when idling or even moving).

The interiors and looks are a strong point agreed by one and all. Lots of useful features abound - map pockets in doors, functional cup holders, folded hand grabs, lamp in the boot, and on and on.

My experience with fuel efficiency so far? 24-26 kmpl in mixed drive(60% highway, 40% city)!

Overall, a brilliant package and I am very happy with my decision to switch from the Santro to the i10. And full marks to Hyundai for being a great customer-focused and service-oriented company.
