I purchased a i20 Asta petrol model about a year back and the car has clocked around 1700Km till date. The overall experience of owning a i20 is good but there are a few faults that needs to be rectified by Hyundai.
Firstly the body colour is starting to show signs of fading at few places especially near the back bumper and edges of the high mounted stop lamp. The paint has also scrapped away from some small portions near the front doors . There are numerous amounts of small scratches as well .The condition of the colour is not that well after 1 year of use and we are planning to repaint the car withing a few months.
Secondly the front passenger seat belt warning chime has stopped working after putting on seat covers. When asked the Hyundai dealer about the issue, they straight away told us not to use the seat covers for i20.
The A/C is quite powerful for the class and contrary to what many people told us before purchasing.
The power is definitely low for a car of this proportion and equipment level but acceleration is quite acceptable for most city driving as well as Sunday drives on the highways. The only situation where the i20 really feels under powered is while negotiating steep inclines with 4 passenger and a/c on at full power.
The mileage steadily rose from 8kmpl to 13.5kmpl within a span of 1400Km with 60/40 town and highway driving and modest use of the a/c.
The equipment level is too good and when compared with rivals like Polo / Swift / Ritz, it clearly outruns them all. The i20 has got more creature comforts than the Honda city. Now that a lot of equipment we are talking about.
Now that I have stated all the points, the i20 is a pretty good car to own and fun to drive around. The looks of the car are real head turners.
Based on my experience I recommend a buy.
