On Aug 21, we became victims of a net banking fraud. Rs 41640/- were
debited in two transactions from Shraddhas(my wife) account. We
fortunately discovered the problem the same day however, the branch
manager shrugged off all responsibility by saying "Im not answerable"
and declined to help us lodge a complaint through their call center.
It seems we have to call their call center to lodge a complaint even
in case of a crisis. This was really irritating. It took us about 2
hrs after that to lodge a complaint since phones were cut several
times and each time we had to go through their automated voice system.
What was more irritating was the fact that the branch manager was
reluctant to even accept a letter and give us an acknowledgement.
ICICI Bank seems to be so confident that all this happened only due to
some kind of a fishing attack that they are not open to any other
possibilities. We on the other hand strongly feel that someone closely
associated with the ICICI netbanking system must be involved.
Otherwise how would the person know the account password, transaction
password and the grid numbers on the debit card?
Looks like this has been happening routinely with ICICI. Two more such
cases in Bangalore have happened. My advice to you would be to move
your amounts to some other banks. Leave a balance that you
can afford to lose.
