I had made 2 international transactions on my ICICI Gold credit card( the amount was supposed to be blocked) and the transactions were reversed immediately – in less than an hr. In both cases, the amount that was credited back to my card was about Rs. 2000 less. I have been trying to get them settle this for the past 5 months and all they have been able to do is charge me more for not having paid the Rs. 4000! Each time I call them up, the customer care executive has no idea of what the previous executive promised to do. I have got ridiculous explanations from them saying – the exchange rate had dropped by then(by Rs 5 per dollar within an hr!), there are 3% transaction charges on international transactions(which actually amount to just Rs 800!) and they can’t explain why Rs.2000 was deducted, their server is down for maintenance so they can’t give me the information, they will need to connect me to the Dispute dept and then the call gets disconnected, they send resolutions that say ‘please call up the customer care at 08041131877’ and close the request, they say - we’ll send you a mail regarding this and there is no mail, we’ll call you up and explain and there is no call…. The list goes on! And then they refuse to cancel the card saying I haven’t cleared the bill! In short – once they issue the card, they consider their job done. It’s now your headache. I finally gave them an ultimatum and am waiting to see if it’d help - nothing has happened as yet.
Update: After having’threatened’ a customer care executive at midnight in Jan, the Rs. 4000 odd was credited back to my card the next day. At the same time, I was charged for the outstanding amount on my card before the Rs. 4000 was credited back! Moreover, I had used my card for Rs. 316 and the min amount due on my card was Rs. 550, coz ICICI CC had’used my card’ for about Rs. 4000! I paid just 316 and was again charged for not paying the min amount! Arrrrgggghhh! High time I escalate this!
