AN INDIAN COMPANY, The IDBI bank, claims to be the worlds first bank to be able to send maps pinpointing the location of the nearest ATM cash machines to mobile phones.
All the customer needs is a GSM phone which supports MMS/fototext and a suitable dial-up or GPRS data connexion. Irrespective of the GSM operator, a customer would send a text to +919820507000.
They can either identify a district or a whole city. So for Nariman Point in Mumbai, the customer would send a message of ATM Nari or simply Mumbai for the whole city.
The technology providing the new service is the NOW Wireless SMS/MMS Gateway which runs on an ordinary Windows NT/2000/XP server
