Undoubtedly one of the best places for education in India, IIT KGP is the perfect place for freedom to do your thing(not in academics of course)
The campus life here is reputed to be the best in any institute anywhere( And I can say that a thousand times over). the kind of senior junior interaction here is unparalelled in India. There is no ragging whatsoever. yet the camaraderie between the students is simply amazing.
The prof. to student ratio is among the best in the country. The infrastructure is reputed to be the best in the country.The LAN here is supposed to be the largest LAN in this part of the globe. The location is the biggest disadvantage the institute has. Located a little too far from Kolkata this happens to be the only IIT not to be situated in a mojor city.
The chairman of the Board of Governors here is Sanjeev Goenka. And the Director is Dr. S K Dubey. The current adminstration is very good.
Among all IITs KGP has got the strongest and densest alumni network. Alumnis like Vinod Gupta have donated so much for the sake the instute and done so much its beyond any outsiders imagination.
