This is to warn all Indigo travelers (and potential travellers) about the behaviour of Indigo employees at the airport. We had booked a flight to Kolkata at 11.00 a.m. today (1st December). Because of some problems on the way, we were delayed in reaching the counter by 5 mins - at 10.20 a.m.
On reaching there, the lady at the counter, Ms.Veena, deliberately wrote our arrival time on the ticket as 10.27 a.m. and denied boarding to me, my wife and our 6-year old.
We tried to reason with the staff, including their manager Mr.Manish. But they were adamant in citing Indigo rules and regulations. They conveniently ensured a long-winding discussion to pre-empt any possibility of us clearing the formalities in time. In fact, Mr.Manish said he could have considered a grace period of 5 minutes, but we were late by that time as well! (we were definitely there by 10.20). Mr.Manish then offered an option of travelling by a 7.30 p.m. flight. We tried to reason with them, explaining that it was difficult for a family with a child. They said they were bound by rules. Finally we had to settle for paying an additional Rs.16, 429 and an 8-hour delay - all because a lady deliberately mentioned my time as 5 minutes late and her manager persistently refused to consider our pleas.
Learnt a bitter lesson about how Indigo finds innovative ways of earning money at customers expense. Please think twice before booking this airline or recommending it to your colleagues.
